Do You Know the Craft of Forged Flanges?

The process of forged flanges contanct usually includes the following steps, namely the selection of the material quality of the slab, heating, forming and cooling after forging. In production, according to the quality of forgings, the selection of production methods for forgings is different. The following mainly talks about the forging process of flanges.

1. Free forging of the process of forged flanges

Free forging has lower production capacity and larger machining allowance, but the tool is simple and versatile, so it can be widely used for simple single-piece small batch forging. Forged flange free forging equipment includes air hammer and hydraulic press, which are suitable for the production of small and medium forgings and large forgings respectively. Forgings have high production efficiency, simple operation, and easy mechanization and automation. Free forging steps: Free forging, which deforms the forged shape through the basic steps of gradually forging the blank. The basic production process of free forging includes upsetting, drawing, punching, bending and cutting.

(1) Upsetting is the process of forging the original blank in the axial direction, reducing its height and increasing the cross section. This step of forging the blank is usually used with other disc gear forgings. Upsetting can be divided into two types: full upsetting and partial forging.

(2) Stretching is to increase the length of the blank and reduce the cross-section. Typically used to produce thick shaft parts such as lathe spindles and connecting rods.

(3) Stamping is a forging process in which through holes or non-through holes are punched in the blank and the blank is bent into a certain angle or shape. The angle of rotation of the twisted part of the blank relative to the rest of the forging process.

2. Die forging of the process of forged flanges

Die forging is called forging die forging, in which the blank is heated and fixed in the die forging device, the basic production process of die forging of forged flanges: blanking, heating, pre-forging, final forging, punching and joining, trimming, quenching and Tempered, shot peened. Common processes include upsetting, drawing, bending, stamping and forming.

Commonly used equipment for forging equipment includes forging hammer forging equipment, hot forging machine, friction press flat forging machine, etc. In layman's terms, it is usually produced by die forging and has a fine crystal structure and high strength. Of course, the price will be higher and the quality of the forged flanges will be better. Flanges with ID and OD and thickness reserved for machining are cut directly on the intermediate plate, and bolt holes and waterline treatments are analyzed. Flanges produced in this way are called cut flanges, and their large diameter is limited by the width of the intermediate plate. The material is then rolled into circles, a process used to produce some large flanges. After successful rolling, it is welded, then flattened, and then the outlet lines and bolt holes are machined.

In short, I hope that through the above content, everyone can have a further understanding of the production process of forged flanges, so that they can operate better in forged flanges.
