An Inlet Water Header receives water from the external inlet piping and directs it toward the internal heat exchanger passages. It may distribute water across multiple flow channels and connect Water Nozzles and auxiliary ports. This component is also described as a Water Distribution Header, Inlet Water Manifold, or Water-Side Inlet Header.
An Outlet Water Header collects water leaving the heat exchanger passages and connects the internal water circuit with the external outlet piping. Alternative descriptions include Water Collection Header, Outlet Water Manifold, Water Collector Manifold, and Water-Side Outlet Header. Both inlet and outlet headers may support venting, draining, testing, or maintenance connections as specified in the assembly drawings.
Water Headers may be designated as HP (High-Pressure), IP (Intermediate-Pressure), or LP (Low-Pressure) Water Headers. These labels describe the designated pressure circuit; they do not represent universal pressure ratings. The actual design pressure, temperature, and material requirements follow the customer's project specifications.
According to the approved design, a Water Header may be manufactured as a Half-Shell Water Header, Split-Pipe Water Header, Semi-Cylindrical Water Header, Tubular Water Header, Seamless-Pipe Water Header, CNC-Machined Water Header, Fabricated Water Header, Welded Water Header Assembly, or Core-Mounted Water Header. A Half-Shell Water Header is produced by cutting and machining seamless pipe to the required profile and is supplied as a drawing-based component for subsequent integration.

Before machining, the seamless pipe is inspected for chemical composition, mechanical properties, ultrasonic testing (UT) conformance, outside diameter, and wall thickness. This inspection confirms that the raw material meets the specified grade and is suitable for subsequent cutting and CNC machining.
After CNC lathe machining, each Water Header undergoes drawing-based dimensional inspection, profile verification, interface and mating-surface inspection, visual and surface-condition inspection, and Positive Material Identification (PMI). PMI verification confirms the finished component's material grade and reduces the risk of material mix-up during production.
Available materials include Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloys, and Titanium and Titanium Alloys. Drawing-based Water Headers and Water Manifolds are used in industrial heat exchangers, compact heat exchangers, printed circuit heat exchangers, water coolers and process coolers, gas cooling systems, heat-recovery equipment, power-generation equipment, hydrogen and CO₂ thermal systems, high-pressure process equipment, and custom thermal-management systems. Final suitability is determined by the equipment designer based on the operating medium, temperature, pressure, and applicable design code.
