Overview


The UNS N06600/DIN W.NR. 2.4816 Seamless Pipe is a versatile solution designed for aggressive chemical environments, offering exceptional resistance to chloride-induced corrosion and caustic media. Composed of nickel-chromium-iron alloy, this pipe ensures reliability in wet and dry corrosive conditions, ideal for chemical processing, marine applications, and nuclear systems.


Features


Material Composition:

Ni (72% min), Cr (14-17%), Fe (6-10%), with low carbon (0.15% max) to prevent sensitization, providing excellent resistance to caustic alkalis (NaOH ≤50%, 150°C).

Mechanical properties: Tensile strength ≥550 MPa, yield strength ≥240 MPa, elongation ≥30%, with high ductility for cold forming and welding.

Corrosion Performance:

Chloride resistance: Passes ASTM G48 Method A (6% FeCl₃, 50°C) for 72 hours without pitting, suitable for seawater (Cl⁻≤20,000ppm) and brine solutions.

Oxidizing acids: Resists nitric acid (HNO₃ ≤65%, 100°C) and acetic acid (≤100°C), outperforming 316L stainless steel by 3x in similar conditions.

Manufacturing & Testing:

Seamless extrusion process (ASTM B166, ASME SB-166), sizes: OD 6-610mm, wall thickness 1-50mm, with 100% hydrostatic testing (1.5x working pressure).

Surface finish: Pickled (Ra ≤1.6μm) or polished (Ra ≤0.8μm) for critical chemical flow applications, reducing residue buildup by 20%.


Application


Chemical Processing: Transports nitric acid, caustic soda, and chlorinated solvents in reactors and pipelines, minimizing maintenance from corrosion-induced leaks.

Marine Systems: Used for seawater cooling lines, offshore platforms, and shipboard desalination, resisting biofouling and saltwater erosion (ISO 12944 C5-M).

Nuclear Industry: Supports primary coolant systems in nuclear reactors, compliant with ASME NQA-1 for nuclear-grade materials (radiation resistance ≤10⁶ Gy).

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Used in API production for transporting corrosive intermediates, with FDA-compliant surface finishes (21 CFR Part 177.2600).
