UNS NO4400/DIN W. NR. 2.4360, 2.4361 Seamless Pipe is a nickel-copper alloy (Alloy 400) seamless tube renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance and toughness. This versatile pipe is engineered to withstand reducing media (sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid) and performs reliably in fresh water, industrial water, and flowing seawater—making it a staple in critical industrial applications.
Compliant with ASTM B 165 and B 829 standards, the pipe features OD from 1mm to 325mm, wall thickness from 0.2mm to 20mm, and maximum length up to 12m (custom lengths available). Its physical properties include a density of 8.80g/cm³ and a melting range of 1300-1350℃. The chemical composition is precisely balanced: Ni 63.00-67.00%, Cu 28.00-34.00%, Fe ≤2.50%, C ≤0.30%, Mn ≤2.00%, Si ≤0.50%, and S ≤0.024%—delivering a unique combination of corrosion resistance, toughness, and workability.
Alloy 400 exhibits excellent resistance to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and other reducing media. It resists pitting and stress corrosion cracking in fresh and industrial waters, and performs well in flowing seawater. Notably, it is one of the most resistant engineering alloys to hydrofluoric acid (all concentrations up to boiling point).
The alloy maintains toughness at cryogenic temperatures without embrittlement—suitable for low-temperature applications. It is work hardenable, allowing for forming and fabrication into complex shapes without losing structural integrity.
Backed by 30 years of seamless pipe manufacturing experience, the pipe is produced in a facility with 18 seamless production lines and 3 perforation production lines, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons of austenitic and duplex steel pipes. The team includes 4 senior engineers, 18 engineers, and 38 professional technicians—ensuring technical excellence.
The factory holds ISO9001:2015 certification and approvals from BV, ABS, CCS, DNV/GL, TUV, LR, and KR. Raw materials undergo MTC (PMI) checks, tensile strength tests, and surface/dimension inspections. Pre-shipment quality control includes appearance testing, PMI testing, non-destructive testing (UT, ET), and physical/chemical analyses—with support for third-party inspections.
Alloy 400 has excellent resistance to corrosion by many reducing media such as sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. It is generally more resistant to corrosion by oxidizing media than higher copper alloys.
Alloy 400 resists pitting and stress corrosion cracking in most fresh and industrial waters. It has good resistance in flowing seawater, but under stagnant conditions, pitting and crevice corrosion is induced. Alloy 400 is probably the most resistant to hydrofluoric acid in all concentrations up to the boiling point, of all engineering alloys.
Alloy 400 is notable for its toughness, it does not show embrittlement tendency at cryogenic temperatures. It is work hardenable.
APPLICATIONS
Chemical process equipment, crude oil stills, gasoline and fresh water tanks.
This seamless pipe is widely used in chemical process equipment (reactors, heat exchangers, piping), crude oil stills (refining operations), gasoline and fresh water tanks (storage systems), offshore oil and gas platforms (seawater-handling components), and hydrometallurgical processes (acid leaching equipment). Its versatility also extends to aerospace, marine, and power generation sectors.
In chemical processing, it handles hydrofluoric acid and other aggressive media without corrosion. For offshore applications, it resists flowing seawater and marine atmospheres. In storage tanks, its toughness and corrosion resistance protect against product contamination and tank degradation.
Our pipe factory has 296 employees ,including 4 senior engineers,18 engineers and 38 professional technicians.
We can produces 30,000tons of austenitic steel and duplex steel pipes annually with 18 seamless production lines and 3 perforation production lines.
Our pipe factory has been certified to the ISO9001:2015 quality management system and certified by various classification societies (such as BV, ABS,CCS,DNV/GL,TUV,LR,KR etc).

While it performs well in flowing seawater, stagnant seawater can induce pitting and crevice corrosion. For stagnant seawater applications, additional corrosion protection (e.g., coatings, cathodic protection) is recommended, or consult the technical team for alternative solutions.
The alloy maintains toughness at cryogenic temperatures as low as -270℃ (liquid helium temperature) without embrittlement. It is suitable for low-temperature storage, transportation, and processing applications.
The pipe is produced under a ISO9001:2015-certified quality management system and approved by global classification societies including BV, ABS, CCS, DNV/GL, TUV, LR, and KR. It also meets the requirements of ASTM B 165 and B 829 standards—ensuring compliance with international industrial regulations.
